James Miller is charged with aggravated arson in an apparent attack on two women who were sleeping when he allegedly tried to set fire to their bed, according to an arrest warrant.
Police were called shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday to 1716 8th Ave., where the two women, ages 30 and 36, said they had been awakened by the smell of smoke to find James Edward Miller, 35, attempting to set the bed on fire, the warrant states.
One of the victims ran from the house and called E-911. No injuries were reported.
Officers noted that the bed was “charred and smoking” and smoke was in the house.
After a search of the residence, police found Miller hiding in a storage shed in the backyard and took him into custody.
